The goal: only include exactly what players need to know, include easily forgotten rules, make them as compact as possible (and in a size that compares with the official components of the game), summarize rules that are scattered among many pages or manuals, and create not just a good player aid, but the very best player aid or aids for each game. So, I decided a while ago to make player aids for all of my favorite board and card games. In addition, I found that players will often only play “complicated” board and card games if good player aids are provided first. The idea for creating the player aids came about due to my frustration with both game manufacturer’s lack of providing good player aids to players, but also from my frustration with other player aids that weren’t as helpful as I wanted them to be (as good intentioned as many are, and I applaud their time and efforts). John’s Ultimate Player Aids is a series of player aids for the very best board and card games that exist today. John’s Ultimate Player Aids for StarCraft The Board Game
